Francesco Toldo, the former goalkeeper for Inter, Fiorentina, and the Italian national team, caught a bike thief right in the heart of Milan. The former goalkeeper, who now heads the Inter Legends project, had just parked his scooter when he noticed a young man chasing a man on a bicycle.

“When I saw the scene, I immediately realized what had happened. As soon as the young man confirmed it, I didn’t think twice,” said the former Inter number one. Toldo, who was wearing his Civil Protection volunteer uniform, gave chase and caught up with the thief on Corso Vittorio Emanuele.

The former goalkeeper recovered the bicycle amid applause from passersby and returned it to its rightful owner. “I took off at full speed, pulled up alongside him, and with a shove, I knocked him off. Then people on the street recognized me, and everyone wanted to hug me.”

“The guy who’d been robbed thanked me, as did everyone who witnessed the scene. It was incredible,” he told ANSA.
