Alessandro Pajola’s future appears to be heading toward Serbia. In fact, in the last few hours, Partizan Belgrade has surged to the front of the race to sign the former Virtus Bologna point guard, outpacing the competition from other suitors and significantly dampening the prospects of a move to Maxima Roma, which had gained traction in recent days.

Pajola, incidentally, had also been linked to Belgrade’s other major club, Red Star, but the club reportedly preferred to focus on other players, thus leaving the field open to rivals Partizan, who now need to finalize the terms and timing of the deal. If it goes through, it would allow the 1999-born player to play for a foreign club for the first time, while also securing his spot in the EuroLeague.

Pajola left Virtus Bologna after eleven years with the youth teams and first team, during which he won two Scudetti, three Italian Super Cups, one Basketball Champions League title, and one EuroCup, as well as an A2 league title and an LNP Italian Cup. The Ancona native, who joined Virtus at the age of 16, was also named the best Under-22 player in Serie A for the 2020–21 season, MVP of the 2021 Super Cup, and Best Defender in Serie A in both the 2020–2021 and 2024–2025 seasons.
