Leo Messi unveils his favorites for Qatar 2022
Messi will participate in fifth World Cup with Argentina
Seven-time Ballon d’Or Lionel Messi has unveiled his favorites for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, which kicks off on Sunday, Nov. 20.
The Argentine star spoke to Conmebol channels in an interview conducted by Ezequiel Lavezzi, his former national teammate.
Messi explained which, in his opinion, are the favorite national teams to win the rainbow review: “The favorites are always the same, I say Brazil, France and England, but in a World Cup anything can happen. I really wanted to win the Copa America, I had lost so many finals, while with Barcelona I had won everything. I was missing a trophy with my national team and that makes that success more special.”
For the second edition in a row, no Italy at the final stage of the rainbow event. The failure to qualify, however, did not cost Roberto Mancini his job with whom, it should be remembered, the Azzurri triumphed in the European championships whose semifinals and finals were played in London’s legendary Wembley Stadium. Italy has won the World Cup four times, in 1934, 1938, 1982, with Enzo Bearzot at the helm, and in 2006, when the national team’s coach was Marcello Lippi, beating Raymond Domenech’s France in the final on penalties.
