Juventus Transfer News: Zeki Celik Officially Joins the Bianconeri—Roma Left Empty-Handed

Juventus has pulled off another transfer coup and officially announced the signing of Zeki Celik. The Turkish fullback, who became a free agent after his contract with Roma expired on June 30, will wear the Bianconeri jersey through June 30, 2029. The fullback appeared to be close to reaching an agreement with Roma to extend his stay in the capital, but Juventus’s involvement changed the situation, allowing the Bianconeri to secure the player on a free transfer.
The Turin-based club itself announced the deal in an official statement: “Juventus Football Club announces that it has finalized a player contract with Mehmet Zeki Çelik. In connection with the player’s registration, ancillary costs totaling one million euros will be incurred, to be paid during the fiscal year. The player has signed a contract valid through June 30, 2029.”
Born in 1997, Çelik brings considerable international experience to the club. After making a name for himself in the Turkish league, he moved to Lille in 2018, where he played four seasons as a key player, helping the team win Ligue 1 and the French Super Cup.
In 2022, he joined Roma, gaining experience in Serie A and European competitions. At the same time, he became a key player for the Turkish national team, for which he also served as captain. With Celik’s arrival, Juventus adds quality and experience on the flanks, providing the coach with a reliable player who is already accustomed to the pace of the Italian league. For Juventus, this is a cost-effective move, made possible by the Turkish defender’s free-agent status; he is now ready to embark on a new adventure in Turin.
