Italy’s track and field team is ready for the European Championships in Birmingham, where it will compete with its largest delegation ever: a total of 130 athletes have been selected—an all-time record that even surpasses that of the 2024 European Championships in Rome, when the Italian team numbered 116. From August 10 to 16, the national team will compete at the European Championships with an impressive contingent: 69 men and 61 women, a clear reflection of the sport’s growth.

The delegation includes all the names that have shaped the recent history of Italian track and field. The team will feature Marcell Jacobs, the 2021 Olympic champion and two-time European 100-meter champion; high jump king Gianmarco Tamberi; race walkers Massimo Stano and Antonella Palmisano, and, of course, Nadia Battocletti, who will defend her European titles in the 5,000- and 10,000-meter races. In the jumping events, Olympic bronze medalists Mattia Furlani (long jump) and Andy Diaz (triple jump) are expected to be key contenders.
