Milan Transfer Market: Inter Link for the Surplus Midfielder

Milan is preparing to wrap up the final days of its preseason tour with a roster that still needs to be finalized. The Rossoneri’s transfer window isn’t over yet, and in order to complete the squad available to Ruben Amorim, the club may first need to sell some players. Among the names that could end up on the market is Samuele Ricci.

The midfielder, born in 2001, who arrived from Torino last season for 23 million euros plus bonuses, risks seeing less playing time in the Portuguese coach’s new system. With the switch to a formation featuring two central midfielders, competition in that position is increasing, and Ricci is not currently a top priority in the pecking order.

This situation could prompt Milan to consider a sale. The front office’s plan is to raise funds through a few departures and free up space—including in terms of squad depth—to make further moves in the transfer market for players better suited to Amorim’s needs.

Among the clubs that have been tracking Ricci for some time is Atalanta, whose interest in the midfielder has reportedly never waned. This possibility could become a concrete option in the coming days, especially if Milan decides to consider a sale. But the Bergamo-based club is reportedly not the only one with its sights set on the player. According to transfer market expert Alfredo Pedullà, two other clubs—one Italian and one foreign—are also interested in the midfielder, though their names have not yet been disclosed.
