Atalanta Transfer Market: La Dea Is Ready to Please Sarri with a Midfielder Looking for Redemption

Atalanta, which will be led by Maurizio Sarri for the 2026-27 season, has not yet finalized its roster: the club continues to monitor 24-year-old Samuele Ricci for the midfield. The young player, who is coming off a very difficult season with Milan and is not part of the plans of the Rossoneri’s new coach, Ruben Amorim, is eager to prove his worth and was already being tracked by Atalanta’s management when he played for Torino. And, above all, at a time when his market value was higher than it is now—a significant detail that could help break the deadlock soon.

Milan had acquired Ricci just twelve months ago, paying Torino 23 million euros—a sum the Rossoneri are now unlikely to recoup in full. Amorim, who has reshaped the midfield hierarchy by switching to a formation with two central midfielders, does not see the 2001-born player as part of his technical plan, and the management at Via Aldo Rossi is therefore ready to consider offers to avoid recording an excessive capital loss on the balance sheet.

In addition to the Bergamo-based club, two other clubs—one Italian and one foreign—are reportedly interested in the midfielder, though their names have not yet been disclosed. In recent weeks, Bologna and Atlético Madrid had also been linked to Ricci, confirming that the player has no shortage of admirers despite his lackluster season with the Rossoneri.

Ricci boasts an impressive international resume: the Tuscan midfielder has been a regular in the Italian national team, called up under both Luciano Spalletti and Gennaro Gattuso, and has proven he can perform on the biggest stages. It is precisely this consistency with the Azzurri that provides another argument in favor of Atalanta, which, under Sarri, aims to build a midfield of both quality and depth to best tackle a season that will also see the team competing in Europe.
