Pisa Transfer Market: A Midfielder Offered to Monza in Exchange for Petagna
Pisa remains very active in the transfer market, and Andrea Petagna is emerging as an increasingly likely candidate to bolster the team’s offense. The former Napoli and Cagliari forward is not a regular starter under Ivan Juric at Monza and would be open to reuniting with Paolo Bianco, with whom he already worked last season in Brianza, a campaign that ended with the Biancorossi’s promotion to Serie A.
The main sticking point in the deal, however, is Petagna’s salary, which exceeds 2.5 million euros per year—a figure significantly higher than the parameters set by the Tuscan club. To try to reach an agreement with Monza, Pisa could include Idrissa Tourè in the negotiations. The German-Guinean midfielder is set to leave the Nerazzurri and is of interest to the Brianza-based club’s management, a circumstance that could facilitate dialogue between the two clubs.
A possible solution to the financial hurdle could be a loan deal in which Monza would share the cost of the 1995-born player’s salary. The Biancorossi, for their part, seem willing to consider this option, aware that Petagna is unlikely to see much playing time with Juric at the helm, where Patrick Cutrone is considered the first choice as center forward. In four seasons with Monza, interrupted by a loan to Cagliari in 2023–2024, Petagna has made 76 appearances in all competitions, scoring 14 goals.
However, Petagna isn’t the only name on the Nerazzurri sporting director’s radar to bolster the attack. Bianco is also said to have placed Filippo Pittarello—Catanzaro’s center forward who was a standout last season in Serie B—at the top of his list of potential signings. The Nerazzurri club has reportedly already secured the player’s willingness to transfer, but negotiations with the Calabrian Giallorossi remain complex: Catanzaro highly values its striker and continues to demand a substantial fee to let him go. Despite the gap between the asking price and the offer, talks between the two clubs are continuing.
