Juventus Transfer Market: Three Old Targets to Revamp the Offense

Juventus continues to work on strengthening its offense, and with Luciano Spalletti at the helm, the priority seems increasingly clear: to find a true center forward who is physically strong and capable of serving as a focal point inside the penalty area. Among the players being evaluated by the Bianconeri front office are Jean-Philippe Mateta, Alexander Sorloth, and Joshua Zirkzee, though they are ranked differently.
Mateta represents an interesting opportunity, especially given his contract situation, as his deal is set to expire next June. Juventus appreciates the striker’s physicality, but before making any move, they want assurances regarding his fitness. In particular, assessing the condition of his knee will be crucial. Any acceleration in negotiations could therefore come later, even after January.
At the moment, the path leading to Sorloth appears more concrete. The Norwegian is a player particularly favored by Spalletti for his attributes and would represent a solution consistent with the need for a traditional No. 9 striker. Juventus has already been in contact, and Atlético Madrid values the striker at around 30 million euros.
And this is precisely where Nico González comes into play. The Argentine has returned to Turin but continues to push for a return to Atlético Madrid. His future could be the key to brokering a deal involving Sorloth, thereby turning a problem to be resolved into a potential opportunity for Juventus’s transfer market.
Joshua Zirkzee also remains in the background. Juventus is interested in the Manchester United forward, and he could represent an opportunity, but he isn’t considered the top choice for the attack. The reason is primarily tactical: Zirkzee is more of a link-up player, while Spalletti wants a center forward capable of consistently occupying the box and providing a physical presence in the final third.
Juventus’ strategy, therefore, is clear: first and foremost, they need a No. 9. Mateta remains a prospect to monitor, Zirkzee an opportunity, and Sorloth the player who, based on his characteristics and technical ability, currently seems to fit best into Spalletti’s plans. And Nico Gonzalez’s situation could prove decisive in getting the deal off the ground.
