F1, tension in Red Bull after the arrival of Daniel Ricciardo
According to Ralf Schumacher in the coming season Perez will be under pressure: he risks losing his place to the Australian
The now certain arrival of Daniel Ricciardo as Red Bull’s reserve driver will put even more pressure on Sergio Perez’s shoulders, in Ralf Schumacher’s opinion.
The Mexican driver has had a turbulent end to the year after some internal disagreements with Max Verstappen and the team, and a missed second place in the drivers’ standings. Schumacher to Sky Sports Deutschland is certain that next year Perez cannot afford the ups and downs of this year if he wants to secure his place for 2024.
“I think Ricciardo has a good chance. Behind the scenes I think he will be very aggressive and I think Max will want a change there. Verstappen will have an important opinion on the subject, in that sense I guess his contract also gives him a say in who drives next to him. And I think he prefers Ricciardo.”
