MLS: Sparks Fly Between De Paul and Levandowski—The Argentine Takes a Swipe at the Pole

Anything can happen on the field. Sometimes words get out of hand, as happened in MLS between two players who are quite well-known to the general public and are now stars in the top U.S. league.
Rodrigo De Paul (former Atlético Madrid midfielder) and Robert Lewandowski (former Barcelona forward) were involved in a heated exchange during the MLS match between the Chicago Fire and Inter Miami, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Sparks flew between the Polish and Argentine players in the final moments of the match at Soldier Field in Chicago. During the verbal confrontation, De Paul—who, incidentally, also played in Italy for Udinese—appeared to say to Lewandowski: “Who are you? I’ve won two Copa América titles and a World Cup. What about you?”
The “incident” received significant coverage, particularly on the front pages of Spanish media outlets, given that both players have a history in La Liga. Perhaps there was some unresolved tension between the two stemming from past matches, or maybe, sometimes, on the field, players can just lose their cool a bit.
