Celeste bangs against the post: scoreless goals between Uruguay and South Korea
Uruguay-South Korea 0-0
The opening match of Group H of the 2022 World Cup ended goalless as the national teams of Uruguay and South Korea faced off at Education City Stadium in Al Rayyan.
Despite the 0-0 final scoreline, however, one cannot speak of a match that was poor in emotions: the one who came closest to scoring was the Celeste, who hit the post in the final minutes of the first half, with a header by former Inter and Cagliari player Diego Godin on the development of a corner kick, and close to the 90th minute with a great shot from outside by Federico Valverde, who was able to get past Kim Seung-Gyu without, however, entering the goal.
As for the Koreans, worth mentioning is the great chance that happened to Son in the recovery minutes of the second half: the Tottenham player’s conclusion grazed the upright and in fact was the last thrill of the match. The first day of Group H will be completed in the late Italian afternoon with the match between Portugal and Ghana.
