Daniele Adani doesn’t mince words: “A player like that can’t play for Juventus”

Juventus could only manage a draw in Cagliari, and among the harshest critics in the post-game analysis was Daniele Adani, who, on *Domenica Sportiva*, took aim at one of Luciano Spalletti’s forwards, Edon Zhegrova. The Kosovar international, who hasn’t started a single game this season, came on in the second half of the match in Sardinia and clearly made a greater impact than the starter he replaced, Conceiçao.
For Adani, however, that wasn’t enough: “Today’s soccer is fluid, and it’s not wrong to have more ideas, but the problem is having limitations. Zhegrova isn’t a Juventus-level player—he’s nowhere near it: he’s a 30-minute player, and Juventus can’t have players like that. Juventus needs players who are ready to start, not 30-minute players.”
“Zhegrova is a functional player for sixth place, but you take a step forward when someone like him plays three consecutive games,” Adani concluded.
After the game, Spalletti analyzed his team’s performance as follows: “I’m not playing for tonight’s result, but to finish my career on a high note because I’m 70 years old now. I’m not thinking about the result of the game—which, of course, we’re missing—but we put in a great performance. Playing like this, you’ll win a lot of games. Kolo scored a goal, and even in the 94th minute, we had a chance we should have converted. I can’t stand seeing a player look surprised when the ball comes his way. He has to live for this—you’re putting your career on the line in every game situation.”
