There has been a lot of talk in recent days about Yerry Mina and his tactics: the veteran Cagliari center back often resorts to mind games aimed at unnerving his opponents, and this was clearly evident in the latest match against Juventus. The Colombian defender took it out on Douglas Luiz, Pape Matar Sarr, and then Randal Kolo Muani before being reprimanded by the referee.

After the match against Juventus, many Bianconeri fans complained about Yerry Mina’s excessive behavior and, via social media, called for stricter measures against the defender. As if that weren’t enough, a petition was launched on the well-known petition site Change.org.

The initiative, created by Simone Galimberti, aims to ask the federation “to impose appropriate sanctions against unsportsmanlike conduct such as that exhibited by Yerry Mina, so that soccer may once again become a true example of Fair Play.”

“The on-field behavior of Colombian defender Yerry Mina,” the announcement reads, “often crosses the line of normal competitive sportsmanship, threatening to undermine the spirit of fairness that characterizes our beloved sport. These actions not only put the physical well-being of opposing players at risk but also make the games excessively tense.”

In recent hours, Juventus influencer Luca Toselli also weighed in on the issue: “Yerry Mina managed to make me angry just watching from home. He’s an unwatchable player, an opponent you’d never want to face, and he’s also overly protected by the referees—he can’t behave however he wants without being punished. He’s an unbearable player and beyond unsportsmanlike.”

On social media, there are thousands of messages of this nature directed at the Cagliari defender, who also had a spat with Luciano Spalletti at halftime: “I didn’t hear anything,” the Colombian said, cutting the conversation short, “I told him I care about him. My unsportsmanlike behavior? When have I ever gotten a yellow or red card for being unsportsmanlike? This is my style of soccer.”
