Spanish soccer is gearing up for a busy Saturday, but it’s Álvaro Morata who’s generating the most buzz. The former striker for Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Juventus, and Milan continues to struggle with Leganés, which plays in the second division. His most recent appearance against Córdoba ended with a red card and a particularly heated reaction toward the officiating crew.

After coming on in the second half, Morata was first booked for a scuffle with an opponent and then sent off for protesting. The center forward vehemently contested the decision, even lashing out at the other officials before being pulled away by his teammates. Still without a goal or assist this season, he now faces a lengthy suspension. Meanwhile, Leganés suffered a 1-0 loss and slipped to 17th place, just above the relegation zone.

As for La Liga, four matches are scheduled for Saturday. At 2:00 p.m., Atlético Madrid visits Espanyol, while at 4:15 p.m., Villarreal hosts Elche. Barcelona will take the field at 6:30 p.m. at Betis, ahead of the 9:00 p.m. evening match between Valencia and Athletic Bilbao. The round began with Deportivo La Coruña vs. Levante, which ended 1-1. The match, played in Galicia and refereed by Manuel Jesús Orellana Cid, ended in a draw after a closely contested 90 minutes.
