Jannik Sinner is planning an unexpected surprise, but he’s setting one condition

Being forced to sit out the 2026 edition is a blow, but the bond between Jannik Sinner and the ATP Finals remains unbreakable. Forced to forgo defending the title he won last year due to knee problems that cut his season short, the Italian tennis star is reportedly considering, according to La Repubblica, the possibility of making an appearance at the Inalpi Arena during the week of the major year-end ATP event. Such an appearance, however, comes with one specific and non-negotiable condition.
Sinner has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to handle media pressure and special appearances with ease: from his presence in the Monza paddock for the Italian Formula 1 Grand Prix to the front row at Milan Fashion Week, the South Tyrolean tennis player has never shied away from the spotlight when the occasion called for it. In Turin, however, the nature of the event is profoundly different, which is why the tennis player from Sesto Pusteria has set a fundamental condition for his brief appearance: the utmost discretion regarding the manner and timing of his visit.
Sinner does not want to steal the spotlight from his colleagues competing on the court in any way, starting with the Italian national team members who earned their spots in Turin: Flavio Cobolli in singles, and Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori in doubles. For this reason, the South Tyrolean and his entourage are carefully considering how and when to make an appearance at the Mole, weighing whether a brief greeting or a presence in the stands would turn the event into a “Sinner Show” and ultimately divert attention from the matches.
Meanwhile, Turin fans await the event with confidence. Seeing Sinner in the stands would be an extraordinary boost of energy for the entire atmosphere, but the trip to the Piedmontese capital will be booked only if the perfect moment can be found so as not to overshadow the matches that will determine the season’s champions.
