2026-2027 Champions League: Leipzig vs. Manchester City, Probable Lineups

The match between Leipzig and Manchester City, part of Matchday 4 of the Champions League group stage, is set for Wednesday at 9 p.m. at the Red Bull Arena. The hosts suffered heavy losses against Real Madrid and Como but earned three points against PSV Eindhoven.
The visitors won their opener against Porto, followed by a heavy defeat against European champions Paris Saint-Germain, and in their most recent European Cup match, they scored five goals against AEK Athens. Recent disappointing performances in the league and the League Cup mean Maresca’s men must bounce back.
Demichelis, who will be without Guiu and Ouedraogo, is expected to field a 4-3-3 formation against the English side. In front of goalkeeper Vandevoordt will be Baku, Orban, Lukeba, and Raum. In midfield, Baumgartner is slightly favored over Reitz to partner Banzuzi and El Aynaoui. The attacking trio will feature Gruda, Romulo, and Nusa.
Enzo Maresca faces few doubts: without Semenyo, he’ll field Foden, Cherki, and Doku behind Erling Haaland. Anderson and Enzo Fernandez will operate in midfield, tasked with orchestrating the play and protecting the backline consisting of Khusanov, Guehi, Ruben Dias, and Gvardiol. Donnarumma will be in goal.
