Sofia Goggia dedicates victory to Elena Fanchini

She is the face of enthusiasm, Sofia Goggia, on the day of her downhill triumph in Cortina. “It was a special race: two races in one, because after Suter’s flight the visibility opened up, while the first 15 had flat visibility. Very happy with the result, but the most important race is always the next one.”

The champion from Bergamo wanted to use the occasion to make a special dedication: “I want to dedicate the victory to Elena Fanchini who is going through a delicate moment. Mine was not a perfect race, I have room for improvement at the top, with a few tenths that I can still file down. It is always a pain to stand at the finish line and see your opponents come to the finish, especially when you know your race is beatable, it went well. In St. Moritz I knew it would be hard to beat me, here it was different when the light started to change.”
