Massimiliano Allegri back in the balance. And Antonio Conte resurfaces
The trust placed in him by John Elkann may not be enough
Nervous, agitated and, even in the eyes of several fans, no longer a winner. Massimiliano Allegri’s second season on the Juve bench since his resounding return to the Continassa in the summer of 2021 has lived through constant fluctuations, with many more lows than highs. The umpteenth European disappointment, which also jeopardizes the continuation of the path in the Europa League (a competition in which Juve had been ‘relegated’ by the way after the horrible path in the Champions League groupings) risks being fatal to the Tuscan coach.
There are already questions within the club about the future. Especially in case of a failure to qualify for the next Champions League, the management would be planning an enhancement of young people with a sharp brake on spending and millionaire salaries, as well as on the purchase of seasoned bigs, already previously brought to Turin with a view to building an instant-team. In this perspective, the figure of Allegri is not seen as the ideal one, although John Elkann’s trust in him has never been lacking.
As per rumors reported goà for several weeks, the profile of Antonio Conte is gaining momentum. Some Bianconeri fans, the same ones who after the match with Nantes again expressed their discontent with the technical management of the team, are advocating the return of the current Spurs coach to the Old Lady’s bench.
