Frosinone conquers Serie B: beat Genoa by a narrow margin
Frosinone Serie B champions: beat Genoa 3-2
Fabio Grosso beats Alberto Gilardino to win the direct clash between the two 2006 World Champions. Frosinone won 3-2 over Genoa, mathematically clinching the Serie B title.
After a very positive start for the Ciociari, it was Genoa who unblocked the match with Milan Badelj, who scored a super goal in minute 13 with a volley from the distance that ended up in the cross of the posts. Then, in minute 27, comes the episode that changes the match, when Bani intervenes in an unhinged manner on Borrelli. The referee, after a consultation with the Var, draws the red card against the red-blue defender. The Ciociari immediately took advantage of the numerical superiority, scoring first the equalizing goal with Mazzitelli in minute 29 and then the overtaking goal in the midst of the recovery with Boloca.
In the second half, the first big chance came for Genoa with Aramu narrowly grazing the crossbar. In minute 77 Grosso’s formation found the third goal with Borrelli. Useless for the outcome of the match was the goal sealed by Gudmundsson in the final minutes.
On the next day, Frosinone will take on Ternana, while Gilardino’s men will face Bari in another high ranking clash.
