Eight did not start again on Wednesday
At 219 km, the Camaiore-Tortona is the longest stage of the Giro d’Italia 2023.
As many as eight riders did not start, those who until yesterday wore the dorsals number 3 Mattia Cattaneo, 4 Josef Cerny, 5 Jan Hirt and 8 Louis Vervaeke (Soudal Quick-Step), 17 Andrea Vendrame (AG2R Citroën Team), 72 Jonathan Klever Caicedo (Ef Education-EasyPost), 173 Stefano Gandin (Corratec Selle Italia) and 207 Natnael Tesfatsion (Trek – Segafredo).
First part of the stage is flat until the La Spezia area where we enter the Ligurian Apennines, which we pass through the Bracco Pass and the Colla di Boasi. You ride on mostly narrow roads with continuous ups and downs and numerous curves. You then cross the valley and with the Castagnola Pass enter the plains of Alessandria. Last 30 km on wide, straight roads with the usual presence of traffic circles and other traffic obstacles. Last kilometers practically always straight interspersed with a few traffic circles. Last bend (again on traffic circle) about 500 m from the finish, followed by the final straight of 450 m 8 m wide.
