Marc Marquez chaos in Spain: ‘Leave Honda now’
Weekend to forget for Marc Marquez on his favorite track
Shock weekend for Marc Marquez at the Sachsenring: the Catalan centaur had to skip the German Grand Prix on the track where he has won the most ever, due to yet another crash during Sunday morning’s warm-up.
The season’s numbers are chilling: between injury stoppage and various crashes, Marc Marquez has never finished a Sunday race, and he is stuck on the 15 points he has amassed in three sprint races. From Spain, many are clamoring for an early end to his relationship with Honda, with whom he has a contract until and including 2024.
Marquez is going through a real ordeal at Honda and many are hoping for a farewell. Dazn Spain commentator Ernest Riveras did not mince words in describing the situation: “For me it opens a before and an after. Now there will be Assen, we don’t even know if he will be there. If we have the debate now about Marquez’s future, then we have to say that he has to leave Honda. There are 13 races left and 21 next year with the Japanese, but it cannot go on like this.”
“Marc has 34 weekends left, 34 qualifying, 34 sprints, 34 races left suffering like this. That’s enough, it’s not possible. It’s a nightmare,” concluded the journalist, who somewhat summed up the thoughts of many fans on social media.
