Wimbledon: will be Carlos Alcaraz-Daniil Medvedev the second semifinal

Carlos Alcaraz’s run at Wimbledon does not stop. The Murcian tennis player, in fact, won in three sets over Denmark’s Holger Rune with a score of 7-6 6-4 6-4 in two hours and twenty games, thus snatching the pass to the semifinals.

After a very balanced first set that ended only in a tie-break, in the remaining sets the Dane could do little against the excellent performance of the Spanish player, who netted an impressive 35 winners, as well as 4 aces.

At the end of the match the world number one did not hide his satisfaction: “For me it is a dream to play here in the semifinals. I did not expect to play so well on this surface. It was a tough match, at the beginning I was so nervous both about the quarterfinal and about facing Rune. The first set was really tough, in the other two I had more fun and was able to play my game. The first set determined because that’s where I got unstuck.”

Next Carlos Alcaraz addressed his semifinal opponent Daniil Medvedev, who beat American Eubanks in five sets with a score of 6-4 1-6 4-6 7-6 6-1: “We played twice, once at Wimbledon, two years ago. His game fits very well on grass, but now I just want to enjoy the moment.”

Novak Djokovic is the active tennis player with the most number of Wimbledon men’s singles tournaments won: seven, one less than Switzerland’s Roger Federer, who recently retired after a career full of satisfaction. The Serbian ace triumphed on London’s grass in the 2011, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021, and 2022 editions: in last year’s final he got the better of Nick Kyrgios, who forfeited in 2023 and did not participate in the tournament.
