Red Bull, Max Verstappen announces upgrades that may be worth two records

Two-time world champion and this year’s world championship dominator Max Verstappen has announced that Red Bull will bring updates to the RB19 during this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring circuit that should be able to further boost the car’s performance, as if there was a need for it moreover. Here are the Dutchman’s words taken from formulapassion.co.uk.

“We have a couple of updates this weekend, hopefully they will work as we expect,” Verstappen says, “We will see how we are set up on a track where you use a lot of downforce with relatively low-speed corners. It’s a nice circuit to drive on and it’s also very technical. It’s definitely a place I’m looking forward to coming back to.”

These, on the other hand, are the words of his teammate Sergio Perez, also from formulapassion.co.uk: “I know that this season I have had some shortcomings in qualifying,” said the Mexican, “so I have to focus on doing well on Saturday, because I know I have a good race pace and I drive an incredible car that should be on the podium every weekend. I have been in Milton Keynes working hard with my team to improve. I also spent the last weekend without racing behind the wheel of an F1 car, I had a great time in Madrid for the showrun. Only Red Bull can manage to shut down the busiest streets in a capital city. I like the fact that as a team we are constantly promoting motorsport to new audiences around the world, even away from the track.”

At the Hungaroring, Red Bull can break one record and equal another: it can equal the record for consecutive wins at the start of the season set by McLaren in 1988, 11, but it can also break this same record, which is an absolute one: in fact, Red Bull won the last race in 2022 in Abu Dhabi, so getting to 12 consecutive wins would set a record never before achieved by any team.
