Pallacanestro Reggiana has made official a new backcourt reinforcement. The red-and-whites announced the signing of Sasha Grant, a 201-cm, 2002 class of guard/wing. The light blue basketball player has signed a three-year contract with the Emilian club.
“Pallacanestro Reggiana announces that it has reached a three-year agreement with athlete Sasha Grant, a 201-centimeter, 2002 class guard/wing. For Grant, a native of Cagliari, this is a return to Reggio Emilia, where he was recruited at the youth level in the summer of 2016 and where he stayed for one season before joining Bayern Munich in Germany. Grant played in the Bundesliga until 2021, before being sold on loan first to Scaligera Verona, with which he won promotion from Serie A2 to Serie A, and then to Madi Bayreuth, a club playing in the top German league where he played last season, finishing with 4 points in 13′ average.
In June, Grant was part of Italbasket’s Green Team, scoring 14 and 24 points respectively in the two friendlies played against Spain
Welcome back Sasha!” this is the note issued by the club.
On his return to Italy, the person concerned also expressed himself: “I am very happy to return to Reggio Emilia, a city and club that welcomed me and made me grow when I was 14 years old. This will be my first time in the top Italian league and I can’t wait to start working together with the team and staff, whom I thank for the vision and trust they have placed in me by giving me the opportunity to come and play for a club with great tradition like Pallacanestro Reggiana. On my part, there is a great desire to continue to improve and grow as a player, and I know that I have found the right environment to do so. I am looking forward to meeting the fans and wearing the red and white colors!”
“Sasha is a talented young man with a bright future ahead. With him we achieve the right balance in the roster between experienced players and youngsters with great enthusiasm. He is a physical player who will give us great energy and stamina in his role. We are very happy to have him with us and I think that with his work ethic and great motivation we will try to make him start in Reggio Emilia an important new chapter of his career,” these, instead, are the words of Reggio Emilia coach Dimitris Priftis.
