F1, Ferrari again under accusation: ‘Binotto do something’
Once again in the crosshairs of Ferrari’s team and strategies
Nico Rosberg is back attacking the Ferrari race wall and the Maranello-based team’s strategies after the French Grand Prix. In particular, in the former world champion’s crosshairs is the stop imposed on Carlos Sainz when he was fighting for third position.
“I really wondered if what I was listening to was really happening and I was shaking my head at Ferrari’s strategy. I was surprised to see that the race wall was intent on making calculations about Sainz’s pit stop while he was engaged in a wheel-to-wheel battle. Sainz was third, calling him back to the pits automatically meant he could not aspire beyond fifth position.”
According to Rosberg, major changes are needed at Ferrari: “Mattia Binotto must take steps to ensure that these errors in judgment do not happen again,” he told Sky Sports.
