Italy, Federico Chiesa: "We have to try our best"

These are the statements made by Federico Chiesa in the press conference on the eve of Italy’s European qualifying match against North Macedonia.

“È a match where we have to commit ourselves to the maximum, we have to win and we play for qualification. We want to achieve the result at any cost, because Italy has to play the 2024 European Championships. È it is true that Macedonia evokes bad memories, but in the international field all competitions are difficult”.

"Tomorrow’s match will be different from the one in Palermo, that one was a playoff,” he added, “Although the two competitions ahead of us also look a bit like a playoff. First we focus on the one tomorrow, then on Monday. On the emotions remember Palermo, but on the field then it will be a different race".

Asked what he expects from the Olimpico, however, he said: "I expect a lot of desire to do well from everyone and great incitement. Tomorrow we play a crucial game. We have the responsibility of having to qualify and I expect great charge".
