Gianmarco Tamberi joins the chorus of praise for Jannik Sinner and Pecco Bagnaia

"In all sports when you wear blue you carry the hopes of a nation, we represent Italy and its determination. This for us è an immense honor but it also brings pressure. This, too often accentuated, hurts the most intimate part of us. I ask that we recognize our humanity ".

This was said by Gianmarco Tamberi, blue athletics captain, during a meeting at the Quirinale with Head of State Sergio Mattarella, as reported by ANSA. “The mania we have for sports does not make us immune or infallible,” he added. “Many of us when we are free from judgments that have nothing to do with performance exceed our limits. But we need your understanding. I would like to humbly ask the media and fans to look at us athletes as ambassadors of values".

Then Gimbo continued: "Achievements shine with blue and not with proper names.  A spirit that has allowed us to achieve goals that years ago we could only dream of. Among them I put the European Cup".

Tamberi then concluded thus: “Between motorcycles and tennis in the last weekend we were constantly changing channels. The results of Sinner and Bagnaia are the culmination of a season that has shown that Italy is not only alive but is in the'élite in so many sports. Credit for these successes é in large part to Coni President Giovanni Malagó who does everything to put us in the best possible condition”.
