Zermatt and Cervinia do not quit but quadruple
Alpine skiing, calendar
FIS, Swiss-Ski, FISI and LOC have signed a contract for the 22/23 to 26/27 seasons. This contract calls for four speed races to be held each season in late October/November in Zermatt-Cervinia. Therefore, four World Cup downhill races, two men’s and two women’s, are scheduled for November 2024 in Zermatt-Cervinia.
As a result, these four races are included in the provisional FIS World Cup calendar approved by the FIS Council. However, the four partners will conduct an in-depth analysis of the situation involving all stakeholders such as sponsors, TV broadcasters, cable companies, insurance companies, tourism and community representatives.
This comprehensive assessment will also include a review of weather data and what has been learned from previous experiences. We are convinced that this analysis will be a decisive factor in organizing a flagship event in 2024.
