Michela Moioli unstoppable: wins in Montafon and returns World Cup leader
Michela Moioli has no intention of stopping: after returning to victory last March 3 in Sierra Nevada, she repeats in the snowboardcross of Montafon, where she leaves no room for her opponents and concludes by sealing victory number 21 of her career (19 individual).
No uncertainties for the 28-year-old from Alzano Lombardo, bearer of the’Army, who wins all the runs, starting from the quarters and up to the Big Final, where she clearly defeats Britain Charlotte Bankes, Australia’s Josie Baff and France’s Zoe Colombier. Only sixth was her direct rival in the World Cup standings, France’s Chloe Trespeusch, who lost the top spot to Michela by 2 points. The Bergamasque now wears the yellow bib, with 564 points, when there are still three races left to the end of the season and anything canò happen. Trespeusch has 562 and Banks è at 507.
Out in the quarters were the other two blue qualifiers: Sofia Belingheri and Sofia Groblechner.
In the men’s field, out in the quarters Tommaso Leoni, the best of the Azzurri, while Lorenzo Sommariva, Matteo Menconi and Omar Visintin, the other qualifiers, had stopped in the round of 16. Victory went to Austria’s Alessandro Haemmerle, ahead of France’s Leo Le Ble Jaques and another Austrian Julian Lueftner.
"This victory è was great: fought and deserved, from’beginning to end – stressed Michela to the official FISI channels -. I had missiles on my feet. We fought. I win and return Cup leader, a great responsibility;. But I had fun, I enjoyed it. Let’s go on like thisì".
"Great win by Michela – commented dt Cesare Pisoni -, although Bankes had overtaken her è she was able to get her back. We play for the Cup even though it won’t be so easy. Great teamwork again today"
