Luciano Darderi flies to the quarters in Lyon

Luciano Darderi continues to impress this season. The Italian player, in fact, qualified for the quarterfinals of the Lyon ATP 250 by beating the higher-ranked Adrian Mannarino, number 22 in the ATP rankings and third seed in the seeding, in two sets (7-6 6-3) after two hours of play.
After an exchange of breaks in the opening set, the first set è was dominated by serve, although Darderi had more than one chance to take the serve away from Mannarino again. The natural epilogue of the partial è was thus the tie-break, won by 7 points to 4 by the Italian.
In the second set Darderi quickly flew to 4-1, breaking Mannarino’s serve in the fourth game. The Frenchman però reacted, getting the counter-break in the seventh game (3-4), but failed to even the score, losing his serve again in the next game. Called to serve for the match at 5-3, Darderi did not tremble, closing 6-3 on the first match point.
Darderi thus flies to the quarterfinals of the ''Open Parc' where he will face the winner of the challenge between the U.S. Frances Tiafoe, the fifth seed in the draw and world No. 26, and the Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, world No. 73.
