Max Verstappen honors Charles Leclerc after Monaco
Even the world champion honors the great rival.
Max Verstappen smiles for Charles Leclerc, winner of the Monaco Grand Prix after so many disappointments on the streets of the Principality collected in his career (never on the podium before 2024). The Red Bull Dutchman doesn't go beyond sixth place on an unusually dull Sunday, but still pays tribute to his great rival at the end of his long-awaited day of glory.
"Leclerc in recent years has had a lot of bad luck,” Verstappen pointed out at the end of the day.

It is different when it comes to him personally, as Verstappen was forced to start from the sixth position after a not easy qualification on Saturday. And Sunday turned out to be along the same lines as the previous day, ending in the same sixth position despite battles with the Mercedes of George Russell (who preceded him) and Lewis Hamilton (who followed him).
"Pretty boring Sunday. From lap 20 on I started to feel the need to go to the bathroom. And maybe the most complicated aspect of my race è was just that", joked Verstappen. That after Monaco, però sees Leclerc shorten in the standings: the Ferrari driver è now at -31 points.
