There are 18 athletes summoned by Technical Commissioner Gianmarco Pozzecco for the gathering that will take place in Trento from June 9 to 13. Subsequently, from June 14 to 21, the 2024 Training Camp will take place in Folgaria, Trentino. Athletes from Virtus Bologna and Olimpia Milano who will be summoned by the Azzurro Technical Staff will join the team at the end of their commitments with their respective clubs, as will assistant coach Giuseppe Poeta and Physical Trainer Matteo Panichi.
The five days of training in Trento will have a twofold purpose: to begin working on the group that will wantà to San Juan before inserting players from Milan and Bologna while involving some of the mostù interesting youngsters on the Italian scene. A very precise strategic choice that aims to optimize as much as possible the time separating the’Italbasket from the’Pre Olimpico debut giving continuityà to the “Green Team” project launched last year with the two games in Spain of the team led by coach Edoardo Casalone.
Before leaving for Miami on June 26, where the Azzurri will stop for two days of training before moving permanently to San Juan to take part in the Pre-Olympic Games, Italy is expected to play two important and prestigious friendlies against Georgia on Sunday, June 23 in Trento and with coach Sergio Scariolo’s Spain on Tuesday, June 25 in Madrid.
