Lando Norris mocks Max Verstappen: his pole in Spain
In the qualifying of the Spanish Grand Prix, Lando Norris in his McLaren mocks Max Verstappen and his Red Bull by winning the second pole position of his career after the one in Russia in 2021.
On the Montmelò circuit; the Briton with the time of 1’11”383 preceded the’Dutchman by only 20 thousandths. Third and fourth, 318 and 320 thousandths apart, were the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russel. Fifth and sixth at 348 and 353 thousandths were the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
Fastest in Q1 è Hamilton ahead of Leclerc, left out are Kevin Magnussen in the Haas, Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo in the Racing Bulls, Alexander Albon and Logan Sargeant in the Williams.
In Q2, Fernando Alonso with the first Aston Martin, Valtteri Bottas with the first Kick Sauber, Nico Hulkenberg with the other Haas, Lance Stroll with the other Aston Martin and Guanyu Zhou with the other Kick Sauber remain out of the top ten.
The Q3 è exciting becauseé Norris and the two Mercedes enter with plenty of time running out, in particular Norris mocks Verstappen when the pole seemed already of the world champion.
Rounding out the top ten are Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon, seventh and ninth with the Alpine, Sergio Perez, eighth with the second Red Bull, and Oscar Piastri, tenth with the second McLaren.
