Elisa Longo Borghini first pink jersey of Giro Women

It's Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl-Trek) the first pink jersey of the Giro d'Italia Women, which started just Sunday with a 15.7-kilometer individual time trial on the streets of Brescia. The Italian champion, both on the road and in the time trial, completed today’s course in 20'37", at an average of 45.691 km/h.

"It's the best way to start this Giro,” Longo Borghini told official Giro channels, “to which I presented myself with many ambitions and a very strong team to support. Last year, the Corsa rosa è did not go as I wanted, due to a crash, and so I wanted to show that I was okay right from the start. The pink jersey è a dream before being a goal and starting like this; è è really wonderful".

Second, just one second behind, is Australia's Grace Brown (FDJ-Suez), and coming in from "Down Under" is also the third-place finisher, Brodie Chapman, Longo Borghini’s teammate, who took 13" more than the winner of the opening stage of the 2024 edition of the women’s Giro.

The gaps in the overall standings were the same, with Elisa Longo Borghini thus conquering the pink jersey: winning the Giro è the declared goal of the athlete from Ornavasso, who has twice climbed the podium of the Corsa rosa (second in 2017, third in 2020) and is back from an unfortunate 2023 edition, the only one in her career that saw her retire, due to the consequences of a fall.
