Aryna Sabalenka also triumphs at US Open, Jessica Pegula knocked out again

US Open: Aryna Sabalenka-Jessica Pegula 7-5 7-5

After her triumph in Cincinnati, Aryna Sabalenka è repeated herself at the US Open, once again defeating Jessica Pegula in the final act. The Belarusian tennis player è imposed herself with a double 7-5 over the American, winning the third Slam of her career.

In the first set è Pegula to place the first break in the third game. The positive moment, however, is short-lived, as the world number two raises the level and places four consecutive games flying to 5-2. In total control, però, the Belarusian tennis player goes into total confusion, allowing her rival to come back in at 5-5. Then, in the 12th game, the errors also come for the hostess who loses her service and first set.

In the second partial, Sabalenka started off strong right away, taking an early 3-0 lead. The Minsk native, however, has another slip and the world number six places five consecutive games going ahead 5-3. With her back against the wall, the Belarusian managed to raise the level again and bring herself back to even; at 5-5 and then close the score in the 12th game, as already happened in the first partial.

For Sabalenka this is the third career Slam after the two Australian Open titles won in 2023 and 2024.
