Zebre Parma, Massimo Brunello explains the choice of new captain

Danilo Fischetti è the new captain of the Zebras

With one week to go before the official start of the United Rugby Championship, the league that brings together the professional franchises of Wales, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and South Africa, the Parma Zebre have announced their new captain: he is pylon Danilo Fischetti, who returned to Emilia in 2023 after a spell with the London Irish, who withdrew from the English league in June 2023 for economic reasons.

Massimo Brunello, the new Zebre coach, explained the decision to assign the captain’s ranks to the Roman pylon: "We chose Danilo by mutual agreement with the club – he said – because he represents us and because we believe he has the right charisma to do so. We are talking about an important player for Zebre and the national team, so we are happy to have given such an important role to him".

Fischetti himself, then, wanted to thank the top management and technical staff of the federal franchise for the trust: "I thank the staff, the clubà and my teammates who give me this great trust and responsibility. I take this commitment to the fullest of my abilities; for me è the first time as captain, but I have a group of leaders who support me and stand by me".

"For me nothing changes: we are all fundamental to the team – added the athlete who, in his career, also boasts 44 caps with the national team -. I will try to prove myself in this role with performances on the field, also thanking our fans for the affection they show us every day".
