ATP Beijing: Jannik Sinner’s next opponent defined
Roman Safiullin will be Jannik Sinner's next opponent at the Beijing ATP 500. After triumphing in a comeback against Nicolas Jarry with a score of 4-6 6-3 6-1, the world number one è awaits a tricky challenge, as the number 69 in the ranking has already shown that he can put the South Tyrolean in trouble.
The Russian tennis player won his debut match against Swiss Stan Wawrinka, imposing himself with a peremptory 6-3 6-4.
There are only two previous matches between the South Tyrolean and the Podol'sk native, and both have ended in favor of the Italian. The first confrontation dates back to the 2022 ATP Cup, where Jannik Sinner came out on top with a score of 7-6 6-3. The second match between the two è occurred in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon 2023, where the current world number one è won in four sets 6-4 3-6 6-2 6-2.
The match between Sinner and Safiullin in Beijing è scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28 with time yet to be determined.
