Elynor Bäckstedt also follows Elisa Longo Borghini

The versatile British cyclist Elynor Bäckstedt has signed a  three-year contract with UAE Team ADQ. The 22-year-old è has risen to prominence as one of the most promising juniors in women’s cycling, winning the junior version of the Gent-Wevelgem and twice making the podium at the UCI Road World Championships.

After five years at Lidl-Trek, Bäckstedt è ready for a new challenge and will join current teammates Elisa Longo Borghini and Brodie Chapman in 2025 as UAE Team ADQ takes the next step in its development. The possibility of racing together with Longo Borghini and Chapman influenced Bäckstedt’s decision.

"I have been Elisa’s teammate for five years, and Brodie’s for two. I get along well with them and we work very well together. This certainly weighed in my decision to move to UAE Team ADQ, becauseé they are amazing teammates, but I am also excited to get to know all the other female cyclists" he said.

"I look forward to helping Elisa and the other teammates, but I am also excited to sit down with the coaches and set new goals for myself. I want to improve my time trial, which è has been on the back burner for the past few years, and I am curious to see what this change can bring me" added Bäckstedt.
