Tennis loses a star: Rafael Nadal retires

Rafael Nadal has officially announced his farewell to professional tennis: "I am retiring", declared the Mallorcan in a moving video conveyed on Thursday morning.

The 38-year-old from Manacor hangs up his racket with 92 titles, including 22 from the 'Grand Slam'. 14 the Roland Garros, an absolute record that solidified his status as "King of clay".

In addition to Grand Slam titles, Nadal has won two Olympic gold medals, one in singles at Beijing 2008 and one in doubles at Rio 2016. He also played a crucial role in Spain’s victories in five Davis Cup editions.

Throughout his career, Nadal has been able to build epic rivalries with champions such as Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, creating unforgettable moments for tennis fans around the world.
