No massive comeback but a significant first step. Toyota, seen, for the’last time, in Formula 1 in the 2000s, has decided to return to the circus. No new team or any engine supply but an agreement with Haas at the technical level.

Toyota Gazzo Racing and Haas have, in fact, announced that they have reached an agreement to start a technical collaboration. Toyota will participate, with its engineers, drivers and mechanics, in test drives organized by Haas, which, in turn, will receive design services from the Japanese giant, both at the technical and production levels.

Ayao Komatsu, Haas team principal è excited about the new Japanese partner: "Having a world leader in the automotive industry supporting and collaborating with our organization, in turn seeking to develop and accelerate its technical and engineering expertise, means establishing a partnership with obvious benefits for both parties. The opportunity to draw on the resources and knowledge available at Toyota Gazoo Racing, benefiting from their technical and production processes, will be crucial to our development and our clear desire to further increase our competitiveness in Formula 1. In return, we offer a platform for Toyota Gazoo Racing to fully utilize and develop their in-house engineering capabilities", his clear words.

The brand of Toyota’s sports division will appear on the American single-seater starting with the next U.S. Grand Prix, scheduled for October 18-20 in Austin, Texas. An important return that of Toyota in F1, although, for now, for a technical collaboration.
