Kyrie Irving forced to undergo surgery: torn ACL

Not enough were the consequences of the trade that brought Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, already injured in the first game with the new team, the Dallas Mavericks have to deal with another bad news: as reported by the official channels of the NBA, in fact, Kyrie Irving has è got a left anterior cruciate ligament injury and will be forced to a very long stop.

The 2016 NBA champion with the Cleveland Cavaliers, in Dallas from the second half of the 2022-2023 vintage, will have to go under the knife and, once out of surgery, will have to begin a lengthy rehabilitation, which is expected to keep him off the court for at least six months. In all likelihood, his return will therefore not take place before the start of the new season.

Irving, on the court in 50 of the 62 games played this year by the Dallas Mavericks, è so far the only player so far this season capable of scoring at least 20 points on average with 40 percent from three-point range and 90 percent from the lunette, important numbers that, despite Doncic's farewell, made the Texas franchise hopeful at least as far as the playoff race was concerned. Now, però, without the two draggers of last season, everything really changes for the Mavs.

Arriving in the NBA in 2011 after a season at Duke and being called to the Draft as the first overall pick, Irving played in the Cleveland Cavaliers for six seasons, winning an NBA title and choosing to settle with the Boston Celtics in 2017. After two seasons in the green-and-white è he then moved on to Brooklyn, where between highs and lows è he remained until February 2023, later moving to Texas.
