Cremonese narrowly folds Reggiana and consolidates fourth place
The 32nd day of Serie B opened with Cremonese’s external success over Reggiana. At the Mapei Stadium, in fact, the grigiorossa team won 1-2 thanks to one goal per half and a super performance by Vandeputte, author of two assists.
The first ring of the match was for Cremonese in the 9th minute: Pickel inserted himself centrally and shot towards the goal, finding an excellent response from Bardi with his feet. On the rebound, Barbieri kicks a shot wide of the post. Nine minutes later, it was the hosts who evened the woodwork count, as Vergara’s cross shot chipped the outside post.
On 28 minutes, the guests unlocked the result: Vandeputte verticalized for De Luca, who beat Meroni at speed, got around Bardi and sealed his sixth league goal. The joy for Cremonese, however, lasted very little, as in the 36th minute Marras put in a strong and taut cross finding the unfortunate deflection of Antov, who mocks his goalkeeper.
In the second half, it was the visitors who dictated the pace, and in the 55th minute came the go-ahead goal: Vandeputte recovered a ball in the forward area and put it in the middle for Bianchetti, who headed it past Bardi.
Galvanized by the goal, the grigiorossa formation played more freely and came close to the third goal several times. After the round of substitutions, however, it is Reggiana that makes itself dangerous and in the final minutes the chance to equalize also arrives: Maggio puts a ball in the middle on which Bardi ventures, who, however, is not perfect in the rebound. On the rebound Vido fails to frame the goal from an excellent position. In the midst of recovery, there also comes the’expulsion for Pickel, who gets his second yellow for protests, thus leaving his team in 10.
Thanks to this success, Cremonese moved to 52 points, further consolidating its fourth place in the standings. Remains, however, in the middle of the play-out zone at 32 points the Reggiana, which hoped to start better the new course targato Dionigi.
