Holger Rune bluntly on Jannik Sinner’s injury
Danish tennis player doesn’t mince words on Sinner’s injury
Holger Rune spoke after his victory over Jannik Sinner in the semifinals of the Atp 250 tournament in Sofia. The Dane won by forfeit against the South Tyrolean (7-5, 4-6, 2-5) but, in all likelihood, he would have hit the final even without the Italian’s withdrawal.
“Obviously it’s never the way you want to win,” the young tennis player, currently ranked 26th in the world, explained to Atp Tour microphones.
“It was also such a good match…. It’s the worst way it could have ended and I just want to wish Jannik all the best. He is an amazing player and what he showed this year was incredible,” Holger Rune said about the match against the Italian holder.
“I wish him a speedy recovery,” concluded the 2003 class, wishing Jannik Sinner a speedy return.
