Roma, Gasperini regrets the market

Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini at the microphones of the official website of the capital club regretted the lack of strikes in attack: “We had the desire and the need to make some operations, but as far as I am concerned, even with a willing club, the operations that were there at the last moment would not have brought a technical advantage. For me, there is no doubt that the priority was the’attack and favorable figures had been identified for my way of doing soccer, but the market does not always allow you to get to what you want”.
“We will try again more calmly in January. It has operated in line with the reasons why I and the ownership are aligned. We have to start with what we have and so we will recover players like Dovbyk, Baldanzi and Pellegrini. Two new guys came in on defense, Wesley came in on the right to fill a role that last year was often covered by Soulé, who I am trying to get to play more offensively. El Aynaoui arrived to cover Paredes and Gourna-Douath, I preferred one less midfielder for one more striker”.
“Up front came Ferguson and Bailey to replace Shomurodov and Saelemaekers. It is the most complicated department and requires more attention and more investment. I do not deny that I would have liked more presence and to reach those players we had identified”. However, with the company there’s a communion of purpose: “I’ve said it before and I repeat it, with the company there’s a communion of purpose, there’s a feeling. They are two different professions, I do not participate in negotiations. There has to be an important synergy between us, and I think the company’s presence this year has been more effective than in other years”.
