Giorgio Armani, fashion king and patron of Olimpia Milano, has died

Giorgio Armani, fashion giant and patron of Olimpia Milano, has died. The Italian fashion designer and entrepreneur, who was born in Piacenza, passed away at the age of 91, as announced in a note from his company, which also announced that the funeral home will be set up starting Saturday, Sept. 6, and will be open until Sunday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Armani/Teatro in Milan, 59 Via Bergognone. The funeral will be held privately.
Armani had been patron of the Olimpia Milano basketball team since 2008: under his management the Milanese team returned to win the Scudetto in 2014, 18 years after the last time, and then repeated winning it in 2016, 2018, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
“He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones. Tirelessly, he worked until his last days, devoting himself to the company, the collections, the various and always new projects in existence and in the making”, is his company’s note.

He has been guided by an inexhaustible curiosity, attention to the present and to people. Along this path he created an open dialogue with the public, becoming a beloved and respected figure for his ability to communicate with everyone”.
