European Championships, historic semifinal for Finland

Finland qualified for the Eurobasket 2025 semifinals, beating Georgia 93-79 in Riga in their own quarterfinal. It is the best result in their history in the continental review for the Finns.
Next Friday they will face the winner between Germany and Slovenia, who take the court tonight. The’other semifinal is already set and will see Turkey face Greece.
Finland had done the feat by eliminating Nikola Jokic’s Serbia in the round of 16, and today they put a’mortgage on victory by closing the first two quarters on 57-40, thanks in particular to their accuracy in shooting from outside (10/15, 17/31 at the end).
In the second half of the game, it then withstood a comeback by the Georgians, who had eliminated France in the round of 16, in a nervous finale that also saw the ejection of former Virtus and now Barcelona player Tornike Shengelia and Goga Bitadze.
