Davide Mazzanti’s national team center Cristina Chirichella spoke to the microphones of ‘Radio Sportiva’ about the just-concluded first phase of the World Cup in Poland and the Netherlands and what awaits Italy in the second.

“We had a very good first phase, closing it with full points, while other teams did not make it: we start with a certain advantage, we improved our game match after match and now we have picked up pace, so we will definitely express the volleyball we are used to playing,” the volleyball player said.

“This World Cup formula is long and alternates between moments of rest and phases where you have to push. Now every match will be very important and we will have to take as many points as possible to qualify for the quarters. It will be tough because we face very strong teams, but we are charged up and now we are here after a summer of hard work. Tomorrow we start with a bang, Brazil is a strong team that has put us in trouble in the past but we have also beaten them recently.It will be a battle, we have to keep our nerves and continuity of play, and play with a lot of grit and a lot of heart. We know that we face four very strong teams, three of which have only one win less than us: that round was very competitive, we will have to roll up our sleeves and give 100 percent,” continued the AGIL Volleyball player.

“The dream is only to play the final, then who will be on the other side of the net we don’t care,” concluded Chirichella.
