Milan: Leao sheds light on his future and reveals a market backstory

Rafael Leao is feeling Rossoneri, 360 degrees. The Portuguese star, currently in the pits due to the’injury he picked up in the Coppa Italia match against Bari, let loose on the Say Less podcast, revealing a backstory about his past and talking about his relationship with the Diavolo.
The Portuguese explained that he could have been an Inter player. The proposal at Lille was important but, in the end, Rafael Leao decided not to accept. He felt he needed to grow more, to gain more experience at Lille. Then, however, Milan arrived.
“Milan has an interest in you (the sporting director’s words, ed). I replied: yes, Milan yes, if they come with an’offer I will accept. After two days, he came back and said: the proposal has arrived. Someone wants to talk to you, he put me on the phone Paolo Maldini, not normal call but video call. Maldini told me: ‘You must come, we are ready to take you. I accept’ I answered. I could not say no”, the account of Rafael Leao himself.
At AC Milan since 2019, he has become the symbol of the Diavolo and, his intention, is to continue writing important pages with the Rossoneri jersey because “… there is no point in coming to this club just to come and then go. When you leave, people have to remember what I did”.
