When does Jannik Sinner play in Beijing: his record with Marin Cilic

Jannik Sinner ready to go again: the Blue is about to return to the court for the first time since losing the final to Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open 2025. The South Tyrolean’s number one goal in this year’s finale is not to lose any more points from the world number one, which he had to drop to Alcaraz after 65 weeks of ATP ranking dominance.
Sinner last season lost in Beijing in the final to Alcaraz: this year the Murcia tennis player will not be there, as he is busy in Japan in the preparatory tournament ahead of the Shanghai Masters 1000, which will see him play alongside the San Candido star. Sinner will make his debut on Thursday, September 25 or Friday, September 26, at a time yet to be determined.
Defined instead is Jannik’s opponent: Croatian Marin Cilic, winner of the 2014 US Open, now in the twilight of his career. Cilic has faced Sinner only once before, back in 2021 in the Davis Cup: the Azure won in three sets.
Sinner, who landed in China in recent days, has been warmly welcomed by the fans. L’Azzurro won the tournament in 2023, and made it to the finals last season.
The South Tyrolean, who has been training intensively on his serve these days, will use the tournament to prepare for the Shanghai Masters 1000, whose title he holds.
